Honoring yourself

Standard

“You show others how to treat you”- Dr. Phil

I am intuitively sensing alot of us are stuck and are struggling emotionally right now.  It is my hope for those of you reading this, that you find the courage and self love you truly deserve.

Have you ever been in a relationship where you stayed too long? You knew in your heart this person was not meant for you…even though you knew this person was going to hurt you…you stayed anyways.

I think we can honestly say we have all been there and WHY?

Because its better than being alone.

The real reason is we are fearful of our own potential. We give this person so much control over our own emotions that we forget we are living for ourselves. We must learn to love and honor ourselves before we can even learn to love another.

What are your needs and wants?

Alot of people can’t even articulate that…no one has ever asked and it would seem selfish to ask ourselves. But why? We deserve love and affection, too.

In order to give love..we must first know to receive it from ourselves and to ourselves.

Before starting a new relationship you must set some guidelines for yourself. These are rules that can not be broken and you will fight for.Its called Self Worth and an act of self love.

1. Know what you want-do not settle.

2. Place boundaries-Things you will not tolerate in a relationship.

3. Self respect- Never let anyone disrespect you or use you as a doormat or be a convenience to them.

4. Self worth- Your self esteem is worth more than anyone elses feelings.

5.Listen to the whispers of your own intuition.Don’t doubt them or disregard these feelings. We all see the signs early on but we chose to ignore them. When we could have saved ourselves alot of heartache in the end.

Finally, CHOOSE happiness. No one said you must be married or in a relationship to be happy. You could have a long happy fulfilling life by being in the present , being grateful and enjoying each new day. If it doesn’t feel right, that’s because it isn’t. Don’t doubt yourself.

Do something to honor yourself.

Love yourself by doing something you love….for YOU!

New Year

Standard

Ringing the new year, alot of us are excited to see what this new year brings. Is it a new love? A new career opportunity? We’ve set our new goals and new list of things we want to accomplish. However, for others we see things kind of gray or through gray lenses. Almost as reminder that we did not accomplish anything this past year. Was 2016 a BAD year for you?

Remember this is a new book of YOU. Last year was a year to ” let go” of the things that no longer suit you. Just like an old sweater. Its time to clear that emotional closet and get a new wardrobe. That’s where the new adventure comes in. Its time to look at things differently. Go out and try something new. Something you have always wanted to try. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Do it now and make it perfect! This is a time to try out new things we have always wanted to try out. Time for new people in your life who bring in news ideas and new experiences. Who cares if you go at it alone. Surround yourself with people who are at the same time in their life. Remember “Likes” attract” Likes”.

Instead of looking at 2016 as a complete failure, think of it as a time you spent remaining still and moments of reflection. Just like winter is a time when flowers wither away. Springtime comes in as a time for rebirth. Fresh new blooms. Lets not hold on on to what may have been or once was. This is a new page in your book. What you write in it , is up to you.

Sunshine for the soul!

Standard

Everything grows towards the sun. It is the light of life and so we exist. Not only does the sun provide us with a rush of warmth, but it also is crucial for the body to nourish and help us maintain our bodies.
Sunlight helps stimulate the body and energizes us within. Most importantly, sunlight helps us maintain a healthy immune system and promotes a good mood and mental wellness.

Right now, the shorter daylight hours of winter can negatively affect sleep, productivity and mood so it’s important to surround ourselves with positive energies. This could be anything that brings you joy. Friends, pets, your own quiet time, walk on the beach what ever it is just live in the moment. Live in the Now!

******Light therapy (also known as phototherapy)emits full-spectrum light to simulate sunlight. While still a treatment being investigated, light therapy has been shown to have positive benefits in addressing many health issues, including Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), severe premenstrual syndrome, bulimia, and as a non-drug treatment for depression. Seattle is known for its gloomy climates and may have benefited from this form of therapy.

Breath

Standard

Breathing is the bridge between mind and body, the connection between the consciousness and subconsciousness, the movement of spirit into matter.
Breath is life.It is the key to wellness of the body mind and soul.Once we can master breath regulate and develop increased awareness and improve our physical, mental and spiritual being. In otherwords we become to feel whole again.A relaxed state with focus and purpose.

This simple breathing exercise should be done for at least a few minutes a day.I recommend upon waking would be the best time. It sets your day to come in balance and harmony. The goal is simply to keep your attention on the breath cycle and observe.

Instructions:

1.Sit in a comfortable upright position with your back straight and your eyes lightly closed, having loosened any tight clothing. Let your tongue just fall back in your mouth and relax your face.

2.Focus your attention on your breathing and inhale deeply and exhale through your mouth. Make sure to take deep breaths. You want to get as much oxygen to your brain and internal organs. For those of you who do not normally meditate, you may begin to feel a little light-headed at first. This is because your oxygen levels are returning and are now flowing.

Fear and Anxiety Exercises

Standard

Like most people I know, they have a lot of fear and anxiety triggered by stress.Your skin is your largest living organ in our bodies and we habitual absorb stress and negativity here. However, we can learn to flush this out before disease begins to take root.

Signs of stress or anxiety.
1. Soar Muscles
2. Muscles Twitching
3. Fatigue
4. Stomach Cramps
5. Constipation/Diarrhea
6. Dry Skin
7. Trouble Focusing
8. Insomnia

Exercise really work wonders. I love yoga nd Qi Gong the various forms of twists and breathing really balances you. However, we can’t always work out at out desk when we are having a stressful moments. However, here are a few tricks you CAN do while at work.

Temple Presses
Place your thumbs on your temples and let your fingers rest on your forehead. Put some pressure on your temples and breath in deeply and exhale deeply through your mouth.Do this all long as you need. You may feel a little light headed but that just shows you needed it.

Fear/Anxiety Taps

Take your right hand and rub the top of your left hand. Now do the same but using taps.Make sure you are breathing deeply through your nose and exhaling through the mouth. Now swithc hands and take your left hand and rub the top of the right hand.

Being thankful and laughing out loud.

Standard

I keep a daily log of things that I am grateful for.Ususally, right before I get ready to go to bed, I will write a journal entry. This doesn’t have to be long. Ex:I am grateful for a great day, lunch with my friends, etc.I learned that the immune system’s natural killer cell activity is negatively affected by three “distress indicators” – one of which is lack of social support. One study of 75 medical students found that those who were lonely had more sluggish natural killer cells than students who were social.

Research has also shown that people who care for companion animals have less illness than people who do not. Companion animals’ owners also recover from serious illness faster.
My grandpa kept a small little Maltese dog with him and it brought him so much joy to care for this animal and I think it kept his mind off of his own illness. When he passed this dog cried and cried. They had such a loving bond that the dog died not too long after.

Laughter is also a good medicine for any malaise.I had an uncle who was terminally ill with cancer. He was cracking jokes till the day he died. Doctors said he should have died years ago.
I remember walking into his medical room I would see the nurses walking out laughing with tears in their eyes. He lived such a long time.

In observing others I find often people who focus on “me” and “mine” in their actions or casual speech are more prone to illness. This is caused by an unresolved emotional disturbance.

We’ve all have struggles and being grateful for what you have and not on what you don’t have, affects both our physical and emotional well-being.

We are all responsible for our own happiness.Leave the past in the past and be grateful you have a second chance to enjoy what the universe has to offer.

I say this to myself every day to program my mind from negative thoughts.

Healthy am I, Happy am I, Holy am I

I am loved beyond measure.
I and worthy to receive.
I am enough.
All my needs are met. I live in a state of balance and harmony.

Love and light my friends!
